'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Loved Ones of Missing Teenagers Desperately Seek Answers After Alpine Fire
The loved ones of young people lost after a tragic blaze at a venue in a Switzerland's alpine town are confronting an excruciating wait for official news and appealing for any details about their children publicly.
The inferno ripped through the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the middle of the night of New Year's Day. Confirmed footage reveal the ceiling catching alight as beverages with sparklers are raised in celebration.
Authorities have indicated that it could take considerable time to identify the those who perished of the fire, which resulted in the death of four dozen individuals and hurt another over a hundred. Officials said on Friday that the majority of the injured have been accounted for, with the process continuing to identify the other six.
In the interim, relatives have been taking to online platforms to appeal for clues about their missing relatives who were present at the venue that evening.
Desperate Searches for the Missing
The fate of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are still unconfirmed, according to an appeal from his parent.
The resident of a town near Lausanne, explained to a publication that she had gone back to the city to check whether he was in the medical facility, while his other parent did the equivalent search in the capital, but could not find him.
"It feels like a terrible dream, an ordeal. The options are finding my son in the morgue, or I find him in intensive care. It's horrific," she said.
She continued that some of his companions had been located with injuries covering nearly half their bodies. "It's indescribable; they endured hell."
The Italy's government has said that a number of of its citizens remain missing.
Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage sportsman, originally from Italy but now living in Dubai.
The Italian Golf Federation has said that he is no longer with us, without mentioning the tragedy, paying tribute to a "young athlete who carried with him dedication and authentic values."
His father, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around the new year. An representative has stated that a official announcement of his death is still pending.
Other Cases
Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is also unaccounted for. His mother explained that he had been on vacation but had gone out with friends and ended up at the venue.
"A close friend informed me they fled after the fire broke out and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he they were separated," she said, adding he had been wearing a distinctive piece of jewelry.

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek nationality but lives permanently in the country, was also at the bar on New Year's Eve, according to reports.
Her sibling has published an appeal online, saying the family has had "no updates" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.
