Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.
The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Posted on Social Media
The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.
Player's Prior Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
