Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the initial names under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend after the squad's 10-match without a victory start to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have previous associations to the team - are among the names to be evaluated by the club leadership.

The manager is currently at another club, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton manager - who played over a century of games for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a strong candidate for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is said to have support from the club board as they begin the process of appointing a new manager.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise contender, even though he would be a shock appointment given he was sacked by the club in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is out of work meaning the club would not need to pay any buyout fee.
