A Ton of Anime Updates Arrived During the Festive Season
The Christmas holidays present a wealth of pursuits considerably more enjoyable than scanning the updates: discovering surprises, feasting on delicious food, and using deep breathing to refrain from snapping at relatives. It is wished you succeeded in accomplish all these things and more. Nevertheless, the showbiz industry never sleeps, and this is especially true for the realm of anime. A slew of exciting announcements emerged over the holidays, and just in case you overlooked a few, here is a compilation of the biggest bits.
One-Punch Man Its Third Season Is Set to Continue (Come 2027)
Truly the most surprising announcement, the widely-criticized disaster that was the third season of One-Punch Man failed to halt the series' continuation. Season 3 will be back with a follow-up batch of episodes in 2027—such a distant date they could have called it season 4. Even more shocking, the studio J.C. Staff will remain leading the project. At least this time, helmer Shinpei Nagai is attached to direct from the start, which could be taken as a hopeful indicator. However, the promotional image for the new episodes is a mirror of the one used for season 3, just with protagonists Saitama and Garou facing different directions. This leads one to believe that, by now, they are probably trolling the fans.
Ruri Dragon Will Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime By Kyoto Animation
Kyoto Animation has built a standing for being an elite animation studio, setting itself apart not just for the high caliber of its work but for the good working conditions of its employees—a rarity in the industry. Curiously, until now, it had not produced an anime stemming from a manga published in Shonen Jump, arguably the best-known magazine in the business. Ruri Dragon will end that streak, and what a superb choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo gained widespread acclaim when it debuted in 2022 after just a small number of issues, but then went into a two-year hiatus due to the creator's health issues. When it returned with a more relaxed pace, the series proved it hadn't lost the fans' affection and goodwill, and now fans are overjoyed about the forthcoming KyoAni adaptation.
The Kingdom Series Season 6 Has a Sequel In Production
Kingdom is the best-selling, epic Shueisha manga that is other than One Piece. If you've are unfamiliar with it before, it's because it only just received an English release, but the anime has been going on for some time, and its sixth season was yet another outstanding entry. As it happens that was just the first cour, because a "sequel" has been confirmed as in production, and it will probably premiere in 2026.
Science Saru Is Bringing A Witch in Mongolia Into an Anime Series
Another studio famous for the artistic merit of its work, Science Saru has delivered critically acclaimed works of the quality of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, lastly, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be handling the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, inspired by the actual historical person of Fatima, an influential woman and scholar in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Judging from the trailer, the anime called Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a highly unique and captivating visual style, which is somewhat reminiscent of Ranking of Kings. Debuting in July 2026, this one will absolutely be on my list of anticipated shows.
Tougen Anki Will Return With a Second Season
Shortly after the conclusion of the final episode of the first season, it was confirmed that Tougen Anki will be securing a follow-up. Inspired by the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki brings to life the manga by Yura Urushibara.
